Inventory and pricing strategies for deteriorating items with shortages: A discounted cash flow approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this article, we consider an infinite horizon, single product economic order quantity where demand and deterioration rate are continuous and differentiable function of price and time, respectively. In addition, we allow for shortages and completely backlogged. The objective is to find the optimal inventory and pricing strategies maximizing the net present value of total profit over the infinite horizon. For any given selling price, we first prove that the optimal replenishment schedule not only exists but is unique. Next, we show that the total profit per unit time is a concave function of price when the replenishment schedule is given. We then provide a simple algorithm to find the optimal selling price and replenishment schedule for the proposed model. Finally, we use a couple of numerical examples to illustrate the algorithm. 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A New Inventory Model for Deteriorating Items with Price-dependent Demand, Time-value of money, and Shortages
This paper presents a discounted cash-flow approach to an inventory model for deteriorating items with the two-parameter Weibull distribution. According to our proposed model, two shortages are considered: back-orders and lost-sales, in which the back-order rate is a varying function of the time when the shortage happens. In general, the demand rate is a linear function of the selling price...

متن کاملAn inventory model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with imperfect quality, delay in payments and time value money
In this paper, Economic Order Quantity ( ) based model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with imperfect quality, permissible delay in payments and inflation is proposed. We adopt a time-dependent demand function. Also, the effects of time value of money are studied using the Discounted Cash Flow approach. Moreover, we assume that orders may contain a random proportion of defective items...
متن کاملCredit financing in economic ordering policies of time - dependent deteriorating items
This paper presents the economic ordering policies of time-dependent deteriorating items in presence of trade credit using of discounted cash-flows (DCF) approach. In inventory analysis a DCF approach permits a proper recognition of the financial implication of the opportunity cost and out-of-pocket cost. In the inventory model, shortages are not allowed. In this study mathematical models are a...
متن کاملOptimal pricing and replenishment policies for instantaneous deteriorating items with backlogging and trade credit under inflation
In this paper we develop an economic order quantity model to investigate the optimal replenishment policies for instantaneous deteriorating items under inflation and trade credit. Demand rate is a linear function of selling price and decreases negative exponentially with time over a finite planning horizon. Shortages are allowed and partially backlogged. Under these conditions, we model the ret...
